Trevor Horn (b.1949)

Like most, I first got to hear producer Trevor Horn’s music from the Buggles album: The Age of Plastic (1980). The tracks Video Killed the Radio Star, The Age of Plastic and Elstree, carried me away. Trevor Horn had learned to use the new technology of the 80s and by hook or by crook he got us to hear its first fruits. Clever at handling reverberation he could play and understood the structure of a good pop song.

His credits are numerous. I have been fond of learning from his work and the way he uses spatialization. Check out Yes’ Owner of a Lonely Heart from the album 90125 (1983) and Grace Jones’s Slave to the Rhythm (1985).
